2. Tir Nan Og

The next lively Irish pub on this list takes its name from Irish mythology. ‘Tir na nog’ in Irish translates to the Otherworld, which appears in their lore. Serving refined cuisine and a range of exciting cocktails, the pub also offers live music to keep you entertained late into the night. If that’s not enough, they are home to a popular Thursday night Karaoke event, which is reason enough to head down and sink some Guinness with your friends.

The kind of fare you can expect to find here is gourmet dishes, combined with pub food classics and typical Irish plates. An Irish-run pub which is steeped in history – located in the building that was once a railway station way back in the 19th century – PJ Murphy’s has all the makings of a great Irish pub. The folk at PJ Murphy’s pride themselves on their excellent food, which shows from the exquisite choices available on the extensive menu. 4. Iron Duke

Whilst not strictly an Irish pub, the last drinking establishment on this list, the Iron Duke, celebrates the country and culture with its weekly Irish Sundays and variety of fine Irish beverages on tap. A traditional pub with a staggering selection of food and drink, the Iron Duke is the place to go when you’re in the mood for a bite to eat and a good old chinwag. With regular drink offers to help you decide what to opt for out of their large drink menu, – most of which is draught – there isn’t a better place to quench your thirst and indulge in some quality beer.

Highlights from the drinks menu when it comes to Irish imports, they have the iconic and ever-gratifying Guinness, Kilkenny Cream Ale and the refreshing, fruity cider from Strongbow. As already mentioned, Irish Sunday is when you can expect to find good deals on these drinks, but there are also drinks offers available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. As for the food, instead of asking what there is, a better question to ask would be what there isn’t. You’ve got all the likely suspects and typical pub fare like chicken wings (with over 7 different sauces to choose from) and nachos, to interesting snacks such as fried pickle chips and a seafood mezze. Where Iron Duke really excels though is in their excellent sandwich menu. Brie and pear and grilled chicken are just a few of the varieties you can find here.
